Characteristics of carbon steel bars are based on the carbon content. Increased carbon content will raise carbon steel’s hardness and strength. Inversely, lower carbon content results in a softer (mild) carbon steel that is easier to machine and weld.
Cold drawn 1018 steel bar is a low carbon steel grade with good weldability and formability for a variety of applications. Cold drawn 1018 steel is also available from a wide variety of mill sources. However, due to Cold drawn 1018 steel bar low alloy content, this grade has limits on mechanical properties. Future Metal Company stocks several diameters of this grade to meet your demands quickly. All cold finished material is manufactured to meet ASTM A108 requirements. Cold drawn/finished bars provide greater dimensional control, improved straightness, and better surface condition to aid in machining.
